20-year-old Rayo Vallecano striker Léo Baptistão will reportedly join Atlético at the end of the current season, COPE reports.
The Spanish radio station claims the gifted young attacker, who will cost Atleti €6 million, will sign a four-year deal with los Colchoneros.
As we reported in early December, Rayo conditioned the agreement on allowing Léo to finish the present campaign at Vallecas in order to help our neighbours stave off relegation.
COPE also reports los Rojiblancos are very close to striking a deal with Granada for left-back Guilherme Siqueira, who holds both Brazilian and Italian citizenship.
This news comes on a very busy day of transfer activity across Europe upon the opening of the winter transfer window.
Atleti coach Diego Simeone confirmed in a press conference Tuesday morning that goalkeeper Joel and fullback Sílvio had permission from the club to negotiate with other teams, thus explaining their absence from training.
According to reports in the Spanish media, Joel is presently in Wigan fleshing out the final details of a loan deal with the Premier League outfit, while Sílvio is said to be very close to agreeing to a move to Deportivo.
‘El Cholo’ also assured that, despite all the recent chatter regarding the possibility of Arda making an exit, the midfielder isn’t going anywhere. Chelsea purportedly submitted a €24 million bid for the Turkey international, the amount of his release clause.
“Arda isn’t leaving, that’s for sure,” Simeone said.
“What’s important is what the player shows on the field. There’s not a single Atlético Madrid fan that doesn’t consider Arda as one of the best players we have and that he puts his heart into every single match.
“He has a contract with the club and he is an extremely important player and shows it where he needs to.”
Another rumour involves a supposed €12.3 million offer made by Arsenal for Adrián, roughly €6 million shy of the Asturian forward’s release clause.
