Atlético Madrid announced on Monday that Javier Manquillo (5 May 1994) has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2016.

The 17-year-old was handed a new deal by the director of our cantera, Carlos Aguilera.

Manquillo is a talented right-back currently playing for the Juvenil A, our highest youth team. In pre-season he was part of Manzano’s squad and recently he starred in a friendly against Zamalek.

Javi, regarded as one of the top prospects in Atlético’s youth academy, is a regular for Spain U-16 and U-17 and was recently called up to train with the U-19 selection.

Good luck kid, I hope to see him plays next season with the first team

It’s a good news. I couldn’t find enough chance to see him playing but everybody I’ve talked claims that he is promising. Especially 92, he was the man who first mentioned about him. By the way, I wonder where 92 is. I haven’t seen him for a long time.

    He’ll probably turn up soon!

Manquillo could get a chance in the Copa, perhaps. I didn’t see the whole game in Egypt, so I couldn’t really judge him. Perhaps I could see more of him when he plays for a Spanish youth team.

Hey guys, dgsozkan, Ringo, what’s up?, and speaking about Javi Manquillo’s renewal, I agree. It’s pretty good news for us fans, and hopefully he gets a chance againts Rennes or Albacete. Btw, I’m now posting comments as Javi Lozoya, since I joined the AtleticoFans.com writing stuffs, and I thought that Javi Lozoya would be more appropiate than 92. So, that’s what’s up.

I already thought I recognised Javi Lozoya’s style, haha! I’m good, how’re you?

Albacete should be a great opportunity for a few players, perhaps not too many at once. I’d start with Manquillo and Koke and Pulido could get in, in the solenoid half, for instance.
Not sure about the Rennes game, a draw is all that’s needed, but the first place in the group might be seen as pretty important, so I guess Manzano will play it safe.
Two changes max, but probably no Pulido or Manquillo, I guess.

I’m good too, thanks for asking, I’m so looking forward for the match againts Albacete, as you say hopefully Koke, Manquillo see some action, I also would like to see Pedro Martin get some minutes, a lot of people speak wonders of Pedro, and no wonder why, he stands 1,90 height and it’s the B team main center forward, but they say that despite his height he is good with his feet, he can create chances for himself, and his goalscoring rate are quite decent, he has scored 6 goals in 15 games and 7 goals in preseason, it’s not a significant amount but since we’re talking about a 19 year old who’s playing his first season with the B team, (he was just promoted this year from the C team) I think it’s quite outstanding what Pedro has acomplished so far, so I hope he plays againts Albacete.

Thanks man , I’m pretty good. I also think that Manzano won’t make too much changes against Rennes. It’s not his style, as Ringo Schut says, he would probably play it safe. But at least he should let Manquillo play against Albacete. I think he can try other promising players too like Pullido or maybe Pedro. However , I believe Koke’s situation a little bit different. He should play against Albacete also, but he also deserves to play against more challenging teams than Albacete.
