Atletico Madrid Trophies: Full Honours List and Every La Liga Title
Atletico Madrid trophies come in clusters. There are the two league titles won back to back in 1940 and 1941, when the club was still called Athletic Aviacion and Ricardo Zamora sat on the bench. There is the golden run around 1950, the great mid-sixties side, the doblete of 1996, and then the Simeone years, which turned a club famous for suffering into one that collects silverware in Europe. This page lays out the complete record, then tells the stories behind the biggest wins.

How Many La Liga Titles Has Atletico Madrid Won?
Start with the question people search for most: how many La Liga titles has Atletico Madrid won? Eleven. Only Real Madrid and Barcelona have more, and nobody else in Spain is close.
The first two arrived in 1940 and 1941 under Zamora, the great goalkeeper turned coach, in the strange seasons that followed the Civil War. The 1949–50 and 1950–51 titles belonged to the side built around Larbi Ben Barek and the attacking football of Helenio Herrera, years before Herrera became famous at Inter. Luis Aragones was the thread running through the 1965–66, 1969–70 and 1972–73 championships, first as a player and later as the club’s defining coach.
The 1976–77 title closed that cycle. Then came a nineteen-year wait, ended by Radomir Antic’s team in 1995–96 with Diego Simeone running the midfield as a player. The two modern titles are the ones current supporters know by heart. In 2013–14 Diego Godin’s header earned a 1–1 draw at Camp Nou on the final day, taking the league to Madrid on the last afternoon of a season nobody expected Atletico to survive against the two giants. In 2020–21 it went to the last day again: 2–1 at Valladolid, goals from Angel Correa and Luis Suarez, with Suarez finishing the season on 21 league goals a year after Barcelona let him leave.
If you only came here to settle how many La Liga titles has Atletico Madrid won, the answer stays eleven until further notice. The stories attached to each one are catalogued season by season in the stats section.

Both of Atletico's 21st-century league titles were sealed on the final matchday, away from home: Camp Nou in 2014, Valladolid in 2021.

Copa del Rey: Ten Wins and One Unforgettable Final
Ten cups sit in the cabinet, and the spread says a lot about the club’s history. The 1960 and 1961 finals were both won against Real Madrid, back to back, at a time when Real were winning every European Cup in sight. The 1965, 1972 and 1976 wins belong to the Aragones generation. The 1985 final brought a 2–1 win over Athletic Bilbao, and the early nineties added two more, in 1991 and 1992, under Jesus Gil’s chaotic presidency.
Two finals stand above the rest. In 1996 Milinko Pantic scored the extra-time goal that beat Barcelona and completed the doblete, the only league and cup double in the club’s history. And on 17 May 2013 Atletico won the cup at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, 2–1 after extra time. Cristiano Ronaldo scored first, Diego Costa levelled, and Joao Miranda’s header in the 98th minute ended fourteen years without a derby win. That night changed the balance of the Madrid derby for a decade.

Three Europa Leagues in Nine Seasons
No club won the Europa League more often across the 2010s. The 2010 final in Hamburg finished 2–1 after extra time against Fulham, with Diego Forlan scoring both goals, the second in the 116th minute. It was the club’s first European trophy since 1962 and the launch point for everything that followed.
Two years later in Bucharest, Radamel Falcao scored twice in a 3–0 win over Athletic Bilbao, with Diego adding the third. In 2018 in Lyon, Antoine Griezmann scored twice against Marseille and the captain Gabi finished the 3–0 in his final European match for the club. Forlan, Falcao and Griezmann all have their own pages among the club legends.
Each Europa League win came with a UEFA Super Cup that August: 2–0 against Inter in 2010, 4–1 against Chelsea in 2012 with a Falcao hat-trick inside 45 minutes, and 4–2 after extra time against Real Madrid in Tallinn in 2018.

European Nights: From the 1962 Cup Winners’ Cup to the 1974 Intercontinental
The oldest international honour is the 1962 European Cup Winners’ Cup. The final against Fiorentina finished 1–1 in Glasgow, and the replay was not played until September, in Stuttgart, where Atletico won 3–0 with goals from Jones, Mendonca and Peiro.
The 1974 Intercontinental Cup carries an asterisk that supporters have long since stopped apologising for. Atletico lost the 1974 European Cup final to Bayern Munich in a replay, after Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck’s equaliser in the dying seconds of the first match. Bayern then declined to play the Intercontinental, so the runners-up faced Independiente of Argentina instead: 1–0 down from the away leg, Atletico won the return 2–0 at the Vicente Calderon through Javier Irureta and Ruben Ayala. The story of that stadium, and the ground that replaced it, is told in the stadium guide.
The one gap in the collection is the European Cup itself. Three finals, 1974, 2014 and 2016, all lost, the last two against Real Madrid. Contemporary reporting on the modern near misses is preserved in the news archive.
A full Atletico Madrid trophies list also records the 1985 and 2014 Supercopa de Espana wins, the second sealed by Mario Mandzukic’s goal against Real Madrid. Set against the club’s total, the pattern is clear: Atletico Madrid trophies tend to arrive when a strong dressing room meets a coach the fans trust, whether that was Zamora, Herrera, Aragones, Antic or Simeone.
