Argue your case with numbers
Atlético Madrid fan tools: quiz, lineup builder and legend cards
Five small tools for supporters who like to test themselves and each other. Everything runs in the browser: no sign-ups, no tracking, just club knowledge. The facts behind every question and card come from the same records as the club history and the legends gallery.
01 · The Atlético history quiz
Twelve questions, from 1903 to title eleven. Scores at the end, and no peeking.
02 · Guess the player
Three clues, one legend. Type the surname; accents optional.
03 · Lineup builder
Pick a shape, fill the eleven, then copy the link, because the URL carries your team, so any supporter who opens it sees your picks.
04 · Legend vs legend
Two careers side by side: years in stripes and what they lifted here.
05 · Random legend
One spin, one great, one fact worth retelling.
About these tools
Each tool is built on the club's documented record rather than opinion. The quiz questions come from the events covered in the history timeline: the founding of 1903, the Aviación years, the Double of 1996, the finals of 1974, 2014 and 2016, and the championships of 2014 and 2021. The guess-the-player clues and the comparison cards use tenures and honours as recorded in the legends gallery, and nothing else: no ratings, no make-believe numbers, no invented trivia.
Why these five, and not a hundred
Every tool here answers a question supporters actually argue about, and none of them needs a server. The quiz settles how much of the club's history you carry; guess-the-player tests whether you know a career from three facts; the comparison cards put two legends beside each other without an opinion column; the lineup builder turns an argument into a link you can send. Five tools that work is worth more than fifty that half-work.
They are also deliberately offline-friendly. Nothing here calls an API, tracks a session or asks for an email. Open the page, play, close it. The quiz forgets you, and the only thing that persists is the lineup link you choose to copy.
The lineup builder is deliberately open-ended. It does not restrict picks to any particular squad, because half the fun of a supporters' eleven is mixing eras: a back line marshalled by Godín in front of Oblak, Gárate and Torres up top, Koke and Luis Aragonés running the middle. Build the team, copy the link, and settle the argument wherever supporters argue. If a name deserves a deeper look before it makes your eleven, the player profiles and the records page hold the evidence, and the news archive keeps the period coverage that shows how each career actually read at the time.
How the questions and clues are put together
The quiz is twelve questions with four options each, and it deliberately jumps around the century rather than walking through it. One question asks for the founding year, the next for the merger identity that won the first two league titles, and the one after that for the scorer of both goals in the 2010 Europa League final. The 1962 Cup Winners' Cup, the equaliser in the closing seconds of the 1974 European Cup final, the extra-time goal that completed the Double in 1996, the title sealed at Camp Nou in 2014 and the appearance record that stood until Koke passed it all appear. A supporter who knows the eras rather than one decade of them tends to score better, which is the intended result.
Guess-the-player is built the other way round, from the record card instead of the story. The three clues are always the same three fields, position, years at the club and one honour won here, so the difficulty comes from the player rather than from how the question is phrased. Answers are checked loosely on purpose: accents are stripped before comparison, so Pantić and Pantic both count, and the surname on its own is enough.
The comparison cards and the random legend draw on the same short list of profiled players, so a name that appears in one will appear in the others. That is deliberate: the point of the set is that the five tools describe one squad of greats from five angles rather than five unrelated databases. If a card raises a question it does not answer, the legends gallery carries the full career behind it.
Fan tools: common questions
Do the tools need an account or a download?
No. Everything runs in the browser on this page, with no sign-up, no app and no tracking.
Where do the quiz answers come from?
From the documented club record covered on the history timeline and the trophies page. Nothing is invented for the sake of a question.
How does the lineup share link work?
Your eleven and the formation are encoded into the page URL. Anyone who opens that link sees exactly the team you built, and nothing is stored on a server.
Can I pick players from different eras in the same team?
Yes, and that is the point. Godín in front of Oblak with Gárate up front is a legitimate supporters' eleven.
Are the comparison cards ranked?
No. They show years at the club, honours won here and one verifiable fact each. The ranking is yours to argue.
Will more tools be added?
Only where a tool can be built on facts that do not go stale. Anything depending on live squad data would break the moment a transfer window opened.
