Simão: “I won’t celebrate if I score at the Calderón”
Former Atlético captain Simão Sabrosa spoke to Spanish radio station Onda Cero Monday night as he gets set for what will surely be an emotional return to the Vicente Calderón. On Thursday, the 32-year-old’s Besiktas side will visit Madrid for their Europa League round of 16 first leg clash against Atleti, an event the former
Suso’s best signings (Part 1)
On Tuesday Atlético officially announced one of Spain’s worst kept secrets, the departure of Jesús “Suso” García Pítarch. The 48-year old sporting director replaced Toni Muñoz in 2006 after having worked at Valencia for four years.

Gil and Cerezo’s exclusive joint radio interview
Atlético president Enrique Cerezo and General Director Miguel Ángel Gil went on the Cadena SER radio programme “El Larguero” yesterday, in a bid to clarify the state of their relationship. The Atlético captain, winger and set-piece specialist was very emotional when he appeared alongside club president Enrique Cerezo at today’s press conference.

Following yesterday’s victory over Espanyol that included Simao’s emotional farewell to the Colchonero faithful, Atlético head into the Christmas break rehabilitated having quickly amassed a four game unbeaten streak that included three shutouts. But will a return to action in 2011 without Simao on the squad spoil all the fun?
Copa del Rey: Atlético 1 – 0 Espanyol
An embarrassing performance by the referee made for a spectacular match in a flooded Vicente Calderón tonight. We hosted Espanyol in the first leg of our Copa del Rey encounter and took a narrow, but ultimately deserved, win over the team that beat us 3-2 not too long ago.
Monday morning hangover
Atlético inched closer to the targeted Champions League spots with a strong showing en route to a 3-0 away victory over Málaga. While we at AtléticoFans are thrilled with the weekend’s result, there are still some points that we would like to mull over before diving into the new week.
