Asenjo: “I have to win back the respect of the fans”
Atlético goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, who is in the final phase of his recovery from knee surgery, gave a press conference on Wednesday at the Los Ángeles de San Rafael training facilities where Atleti is undergoing pre-season. “My recovery is going well,” Sergio told reporters.
Asenjo tears ACL again
Atlético goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, on-loan for the rest of the season at Málaga, has re-injured his right knee and will be out for about six to eight months. The 21-year-old started in yesterday’s match against Sevilla, but in the early minutes of the game he slid awkwardly, tearing the ACL of his right knee that had been repaired in May of last year.
De Gea: “I hope to be able to play Thursday”
Atlético goalkeeper David de Gea left the training ground yesterday morning after feeling pain in his right thigh. His availability for Thursday’s crucial Europa League tie against Norwegian champion Rosenborg is now in doubt. In a press conference following the training session, De Gea told reporters, “I hope to be able to play on Thursday.”
