Atlético Madrid announced the departures of two players on Tuesday. Midfield duo Óliver Torres and Rubén Pérez will join FC Porto and Torino, respectively. Both are leaving on 1-year loan deals. Atlético have agreed to loan out midfielder Rubén Pérez to newly promoted Elche for next season. This will be the fourth consecutive year out on loan for the 24-year-old canterano. Rubén Pérez previously spent time at Deportivo, Getafe and Betis. He made his single first-team appearance for Atlético as a substitute against Getafe in 2010.

Little rest for Atléticos during international break
Diego Forlán has had little rest this international break, playing the full 90 minutes in both games for Uruguay against Estonia and the Republic of Ireland. Luis Perea had to come on and play for Colombia, whilst David de Gea and Álvaro Domínguez also played the full 90 minutes for Spain U21s.

Atlético are seriously considering the possibility of bringing midfielder Rubén Pérez back a year early from his two-year loan spell at Deportivo. The former Atlético B star, speaking to AS, gave the impression that he was flattered by the news, though he remained mindful of his obligation to his current team.

Rubén barred from playing against Atlético
Atlético youth product Rubén Pérez, who was loaned out to Deportivo as part of the deal that sent Filipe Luís to the Calderón, will be barred from playing against his former team this Saturday. A clause in the midfielder’s two-year loan contract requires Deportivo to pay a fee in order to include him in a match selection against Atleti.

After an ultimately successful run in the European U19 Championships for Atlético’s cantera, a number of our young players have been called upon to represent their national teams. Mérida, de Gea and Domínguez are among those selected for Spain U21s, while Cabrera could be set to earn his first full cap for Uruguay in a friendly match against Angola.
