According to several media sources both in Spain and Colombia, Atlético are very close to finalising a deal for Porto striker Radamel Falcao García. Atleti will reportedly pay between €25 to €30 million for the Colombia international, with Eduardo Salvio expected to be included in the deal.
Atlético continue to look for players to fill the void that’s been left by Sergio Agüero’s departure, but so far with little success. Last week the reliable Spanish news agency EFE reported that Atleti had made a €12m approach for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. Today we made a new offer, says AS, but Espanyol still won’t budge. The Catalans are holding out for €20m for the 25-year old, but might be willing to drop their prize a bit if Atleti persist.
Atlético are currently without a sports director or manager and have been sent into a week-long tailspin with the news of the more than likely departures of fan favourites Sergio Agüero and David de Gea. That’s not keeping the club from putting some pieces together for the 2011-12 campaign though. Piatti and Gabi are set to join following the confirmed signings of Adrián, Miranda and Sílvio.
We’ve taken the time once again to round up all of those rumours floating around the internet. Elias was unwrapped as an early Christmas gift today, but are more signings on the way? It seems as if we are still looking for another midfielder, because the Spanish press keeps linking us to offensive players.
