Cédric Mabwati and Ibrahima Baldé play Numancia on loan from Atletico Madrid

End of year review – Rojiblancos out on loan

We’re midway through the season and as always rumours are flying around regarding possible transfers. However we shouldn’t forget that we have a few players already under contract who could return to play for us next season. Who could forget about players such as Cabrera, Salvio and Keko? Find out how they’re doing.

Keko loaned out to Cartagena

Marca reports that Atlético B winger Sergio Gontán, better known as Keko, has been loaned out for one year to second division side FC Cartagena. The 18-year old returned to Atleti this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Valladolid. The youth international captained Spain’s U19 team to a second place finish in the European Championships in July, where he received some glowing praise from sections of the media.

Ibrahima and Keko moved back to Atlético B

Diego Forlán and Álvaro Domínguez joined their teammates today for a two hour training session. The duo had missed our friendly against Real Mallorca yesterday due to minor injuries. The players that started in our 3-2 loss either had a recuperative session with Miguel Peiró or worked out in the gym. Keko, Ibrahima and Paco Regalón hoped to stay with the first team this season but have been moved back to Atlético B.

Jorge Pulido and Keko

Pulido expected to remain at Atlético

AS is reporting that both Quique Sánchez Flores and the club directors feel that despite offers from several teams, it would be best to hold on to Jorge Pulido, the promising young defender. Pulido’s recent performances in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship were widely praised, with rumours of a move being on the cards for the Spaniard.

Atleti trio lose in final of European Championship

I was really looking forward to seeing Keko, as captain, lift the trophy as European Champions with the Spain U19s, but sadly they lost the final today. The host nation France proved too strong, and after initially going behind, came back to win 2-1. Spain, with Keko and Pulido as starters, had dominated against all

Deal for Godín might be closed next week

Now that a deal for Filipe has been agreed, Atlético can focus on signing one more defender. Quique Sánchez Flores wants either a centre or a right-back, with Ujfalusi to complete the defence. While a deal for Fanni seemed close, Atleti has set their sight on Diego Godín, the Uruguayan centre-back from Villarreal. Marca even
