Atlético forward Ibrahima Baldé, currently on loan at Segunda División side Numancia, was robbed in Senegal over the Christmas break by his taxi driver on the way to the Dakar airport. Ibra’s passport was among the stolen items, and he must now wait for a new one before he can travel back to Spain.
We’re midway through the season and as always rumours are flying around regarding possible transfers. However we shouldn’t forget that we have a few players already under contract who could return to play for us next season. Who could forget about players such as Cabrera, Salvio and Keko? Find out how they’re doing.
Atlético and Albacete have agreed a loan deal for our young forward Ibrahima Baldé. The only thing missing is the striker’s signature. The player himself doesn’t seem too keen on playing in the Segunda División however.
Diego Forlán and Álvaro Domínguez joined their teammates today for a two hour training session. The duo had missed our friendly against Real Mallorca yesterday due to minor injuries. The players that started in our 3-2 loss either had a recuperative session with Miguel Peiró or worked out in the gym. Keko, Ibrahima and Paco Regalón hoped to stay with the first team this season but have been moved back to Atlético B.
Ibrahima looks set to follow team-mate Leandro Cabrera to Recreativo Huelva. An agreement was reached with the Andalusian side yesterday, however, the young forward has requested additional time to review other options on the table for him. Several clubs from Romania have shown interest, as well as Sporting Gijón.
On Saturday Atlético and Real Mallorca face off in the 35th edition of the Trofeo Ciudad de Palma. Diego Godín is ready to make his debut, but he won’t be able to do so alongside Álvaro Domínguez, as the centre back is injured. Our star striker Diego Forlán returned to training this week but will miss the match through injury as well. There were four surprises in Quique’s match selection as several players were left out.
There were few players present on Atlético’s training complex today, but the most notable player present was Sergio Agüero. The Argentine forward returned from his holiday and worked mostly in the gym, before working on his conditioning outside alongside fitness coach Miguel Peiró. Agüero is likely to be training alongside his teammates Reyes, Cabrera and Ibrahima. The trio stayed in Madrid to work on their fitness.
