David de Gea is in England undergoing a medical before he can complete his move to Manchester United. The goalkeeper had said he would leave it until after the European U21 Championships before deciding his future. After having won the tournament with Spain on Saturday, it seems the 20-year-old has wasted no time in jetting to Manchester to apply the finishing touches to his deal.

Spain U21 win European Championship

David de Gea and Álvaro Domínguez won the European U21 Championships after beating Switzerland 2-0 in the final on Saturday night. Adrián López, who is expected to join Atlético soon, won the Golden Boot as top-scorer of the tournament with 5 goals, and was also named as the tournament’s ‘Golden Player’.

Confirmed: De Gea to join United

Manchester United has confirmed that David de Gea will join the club on July 1st. Sources in Spain confirmed the ‘keeper told his team-mates he wanted to leave Atlético. The news comes barely 24 hours after fellow fan-favourite Sergio Agüero announced via his official website that he was also looking to leave the club. The fee quoted is €20m (£17m).
