Atlético B fire five past Celta

This season the Cerro del Espino has been a fortress, and that showed no signs of changing when Atlético Madrid B hosted the second team from Celta de Vigo on Sunday. Earlier this season the Galicians beat us comfortably (3-1) but at home our boys are incredibly tough to beat. This was demonstrated with yesterday’s 5-1 win, which was even more impressive considering Atlético B played more than half an hour with ten men.

MARCA is reporting that Atlético will part ways with Portugese midfielder Tiago at the end of the season. On loan from Juventus since January 2010, the former Chelsea man has reportedly failed to impress and no effort will be made to retain him. According to other news sources, Raul Garcia and Antonio Lopez are set to follow Tiago out of the club.

Atlético B lose spectacular derby

Next week is the Derbi Madrileño between the first teams, but today the fans got a nice warm-up with two mini derbies between Madrid’s biggest clubs. In the morning the C-teams played to a goalless draw, and early in the afternoon Real Madrid Castilla hosted Atlético Madrid B in what turned out to be a seven-goal thriller.
