After losing to La Roda on Sunday, Atlético Madrid B suffered another 2-1 defeat against CD Lugo.

The match, originally scheduled on the 5th, was played on Wednesday night at the Estadio Ángel Carro de Lugo.

The home side won its fourth consecutive game and haven’t dropped a single point this campaign, while Atleti B are on four points after as many games.

There was even more bad news for Milinko Pantic, as midfield general Fer broke his hand in three places and will need to undergo surgery.

On the bright side, the coach did have Kader available, after Atleti succesfully appealed the right back’s expulsion in the 2-1 loss to La Roda.

Lugo took the lead after just 12 minutes, when Berodia scored with a low shot.

After the goal, Atlético was finally able to escape from the Galician’s pressure and created some chances of their own, but the end product was lacking.

In the second half the B-team continued to look for the equaliser, but Luismi decided the match in Lugo’s favour when he finished off a counterattack.

Pedro‘s consolation goal, his second in four days, came too late for Atlético to salvage a point from this match.

Line-up: Iago; Kader, Regalón, César, Cantero; Fer (“57 Vicente), Cidoncha (“65 Pedro); Roberto, Noguera, Iván (“75 Carlos) and Gerard.

Goals: 1-0 Berodia (“12); 2-0 Luismi (“79); 2-1 Pedro (“92)

Hey Derek, again, Gallegos didn’t played do I was hoping you could tell me his current status if you don’t mind?, or either he is injured or Atleti terminated his contract, I have no clue, but I assume you obviously know what is Gallego’s current situation.
Regarding the match, I still think this young team has enough talent to have a dignified campaign and Pedro has been doing a terrific job, I hope he keeps scoring goals and that he gets promoted next year, and hopefully next game the youngsters show their skills and win the match.

  • Heißenberg

I follow Atletico’s reserve team for three years now and I must say that there has never been so little talent in the team as this year. They are not even that young (for the reserve team anyway) and I can’t see any of them pushing to the first team, or even some club in Primera Except for Saul.
Last year they also had a slow start but I was confident they’ll do better in time since there was Koke and few other good players. These year, I don’t know, I’d say it’s pretty obvious that they will fight to not get relegated. ‘Project Cantera’ has gone to hell, I think that we can all agree on that.

  • Javi

Heißenberg I disagree, I think we have quite a good team, it’s obviously gonna take time for the youngsters to be in zync. besides is a strong team undefeated, ( seems you didn’t read the summary of the game), also I don’t think Saul is the only player that can find success in primera, Fer looks like a reliable player for next year, Collado, Pedro and Cidoncha also look very promising. Don’t be so harsh on the Cantera as it is still early on the season and I’m sure they’ll have a great season, they just need time to show the best of their abilities, and you’ll see it.

  • Sebyk

Exactly Javi, I believe that Pedro and Cidoncha will make an impact in the first team in future, Saúl as well of course, Noguera, Fer or Collado are quality players, I expect a lot from Sonopo and Iván when they adapt better. It’s true that we lack a true gem in our reserve team, but there are some rough diamonds…

  • 92

There you go Sebyk, I totally forgot about Sonopo and Ivan, and you’re right, once they adapt, they should perform good and help the team, and hopefully with Pantic’s sapience, he can turn our diamonds into gems, and have a good season, so in a near future, coach the first team.

My bad, Javi I forgot you’re the only Javi, It slipped sorry.

92, it went almost completely unnoticed, but Seba Gallegos has joined Badalona on a 1-year loan. He was so highly rated, but like Keko, Pacheco and others before him he somehow hasn’t been able to make the final step. Or in his case, to even make it into the starting line-up of Atleti B.

Thanks Derek!, poor Gallegos I wonder what has happened with him. Still, he is so young so hopefully this loan to Badalona makes him train harder and strive so than when he comes back, he is improved and shows the best of his abilities because I really wish he succeeds with Atleti.
