On Wednesday afternoon, Pizzi was officially presented as an Atlético Madrid player.

The 21-year old, signed on Monday, was introduced by Caminero and Manolo Sánchez Delgado.

The two former players handed him his new kit with the number 15.

Pizzi trained with his team-mates on Wednesday and was selected for the friendly match against Fuenlabrada.

During his presentation, the winger expressed his delight with his transfer.

“I’ve already trained with the team and I’m very happy to join such a big club like Atlético,” he said.

“I hope to help the team and make the fans proud.”

At the Calderón, the versatile forward will walk in the footsteps of some famous Portuguese wingers.

“Paulo Futre and Simão were great players who impressed here,” he said.

“I will work very hard and try my best to reach a level similar to theirs.

“I know Atleti already have other good players in my position with a lot of quality, so I’ll have to work very hard, and that’s what I intend to do.”

It seems the forward was already well-informed about his new club.

“In Portugal they show a lot of matches from the Spanish league and I knew Atlético very well. It’s a great club with one of the best fan bases in the world.”

What are your expectations of Pizzi this season?

  • 7th

I dont know but have a hunch he will be great. So fast

  • palc

So.. is he a winger or a striker?

  • Sebyk

    I guess he’s a kind of more prolific Salvio…

  • 7th

wait, his number is 15, isnt than godin number last season?

what is godin number then?, well probably 3 i guess.

  • palc

Last season at this exact time and date we only had two wingers, Reyes and Simao. Now we have five. Juanfran, Salvio, Reyes, Arda and this guy.

  • 92

@pal, what exactly do you mean with that?, I think is good news now that we have 5 wingers, the problem is if all of them gonna get plenty of time to show their abilities, like in Pizzi’s case, he’ll have to prove that he is worth the 15m Braga is asking, unfortunately for him he only has 4 months.

  • palc

    @ noventa y dos.

To many wingers for two spots. Not all as you say would have the opportunity to show what they really can. The players will struggle with consistency due to lack of match fitness obviously. But on the other side, they all will have to up their game for a spot in the starting line up.

What do you mean by four months? Only four months?

  • palc

But maybe Manzano intend to use Arda or Reyes as alternatives for Diegos trequartista role. That would leave us with four wingers.

  • 92

@pacl , jaja noventa y dos, you’re funny! (So you speak Spanish, right?), well, yeah, 5 wingers for only 2 spots is too much, we could make 6 if you may, as Adrian can play as winger too, about the four months, I read that Pizzi is due to return on January of 2012, unless, Atleti pays his fee.

    @ ninetytwo

No, no habla espanol. But I can count to thousand in spanish, strangely enough.

Then Pizzi have to work his socks off to convince us in such short time. That I do like.. If we do buy him, then I think it wil be bye bye Juanfran.

@palc (finally I wrote it properly!), I don’t think is strangely that you can count to thousand in spanish, In fact, I think is great and interesting, I can’t really count to 1000 in English!.

And yeah, Pizzi is gonna have to work really hard to convince us that he is good enough, and I wouldn’t like to say good bye to Juanfran if Pizzi stays, but if Juanfran wants to stay for us, he is gonna have to work really hard too.
