Luis Miguel Afonso Fernandes, better known as Pizzi, succesfully passed his medical on Monday morning.
The versatile forward will join Atlético on a one-year loan, but we will hold the option to sign the youngster from Braga for €15 million.
Pizzi, 21 years old, signed for Braga in 2008, but was loaned out to Ribeirão, Covilhã and Pacos de Ferreira.
Braga fans have seen little of their potential gold mine, because after playing his first two games for the club this month, the winger has now moved on to Madrid.
According to doctor José María Villalon, the player is “in perfect condition. He’s at the coach’ disposition and is available immediately.”
The doc might soon be welcoming another player to the FREMAP clinic in Majadahonda, because reports in the Spanish media claim the club are holding new talks with Diego Ribas, his father and Wolfsburg officials on Monday.
Atleti and Diego had reportedly already agreed to personal terms, but now a deal must be struck with the German club.
Meanwhile, it seems Elias is next in line to leave Atlético, after Diego Forlán’s departure earlier and Fran Mérida’s exit last week.
Elias could follow Fran to Portugal, as Portuguese paper A Bola reports the midfielder is close to a move to Sporting Portugal.
Sporting will reportedly pay half of what Atleti paid to Corinthians only eight months ago.
Gregorio Manzano confirmed last week that Elias was the victim of Atleti’s poor squad planning, as he’s the fourth extracomunitario and only three are allowed in la Liga.
If the 26-year old joins Sporting, he would be the 16th summer signing of the ambitious Os Leões.
