Official: Deportivo confirm Atleti move for Filipe

Transfer saga comes to an end as Atlético finally finalize Filipe deal

Filipe-Luis

Deportivo la Coruña have confirmed the transfer of Filipe Luis to Atlético on their website. This morning the Brazilian leftback passed his medical in Madrid.

Newspaper Marca reports a deal has been struck for €13.5m. It is assumed that the €2m Depor owe us for the Zé Castro-transfer has also been written off.

Filipe passed his medical this morning and agreed personal terms later today. He’s said to have signed a four year deal, keeping him at Atlético until 2014. For now the Brazilian defender has flown back to Galicia to round off some details, but he is expected back in Madrid by Sunday. His presentation is scheduled for Monday.

All we’re waiting for now is official confirmation by Atlético, but it seems like this transfer saga has finally come to an end. Welcome to Atleti, Filipe!

The transfer fee is a bit higher than reported in the last couple of days, but I think Filipe’s worth it. Magnificent leftback, now let’s see if we can sign Godín!

  • Nick Poskitt

So that’s pretty much €15.5m then? It’s a little bit more than the €11m that was quoted but I’m happy none the less. If he can be the same player he was prior to his injury then I’m definitely a happy rojiblanco!

  • Ringo Schut

Just like Derek mentioned before me, I’d love to see Godín joining us as, well!
If he joins us, we (on paper) finally have a stable defending quartet 🙂

I don’t know how we’ll play in central midfield, but even without Tiago, we have enough options, especially if Fran steps up!

I’m already getting excited and it’s still more than a month before La Liga starts!!!

  • Derek Maaijen

Nick, apparently the €13.5m includes the Zé Castro debt, so that’s good news.
AS reports that Rubén Pérez will be part of the deal, but I’m not sure if that’s true. Will keep you updated

  • Nick Poskitt

Sweet! That matches what we were told before about the pricing. And if Ruben Perez goes on loan, well then that’s good for the lad.

I want Godín now just to keep the average age of out defence down!
