Getafe have confirmed the signing of now former Atlético defender Juan Valera, who had been released by los Colchoneros.
He will be formally presented at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum on Tuesday, according to Getafe’s official site.
The 26-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with los Azulones, joined Atleti back in the 2005/06 season, but was never able to nail down a regular spot in the line-up.
The Murcian did play a key role in our title-winning Europa League campaign in the 2009/10 season though, featuring in seven matches in the tournament.
Valera’s departure leaves los Rojiblancos with a single right back in Sílvio, though central defender Luis Perea is expected to make the move out wide and serve as the Portuguese’s back-up.
This news comes just hours after it was reported Raúl García will be leaving for Osasuna on loan after renewing his contract with Atleti for an additional three years.
