Striker Adrián López underwent an Atlético medical in Madrid on Wednesday morning, Spanish radio station Cadena SER report.
The 23-year-old, who passed the examination, is dead set on joining los Rojiblancos on a free transfer, as his contract with the Galician outfit ran out on the 30th of June.
Meanwhile, Depor continue to stand by their claim that Adrián’s contract was automatically extended using an old Liga clause that is no longer in effect due to rule changes. The club has even summoned the Spanish youth international to appear for pre-season training in Galicia on the 19th of July.
Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro reportedly wants €5 million for the youngster.
“My dream is to play for Atlético and I hope the dispute gets resolved soon,” the striker recently told Canal+ Liga.
The UEFA European U-21 Championship Golden Boot winner may be getting his wish as early as next Monday, the 18th of July, when federal judge Miguel Cardenas, acting as an arbitrator in the matter, is scheduled to hear both parties out and make a decision.
