Atlético players are due back at the club on Monday the 4th of July, where they will undergo medicals before hitting the practice field, Atleti’s official site reports.

There will be two training sessions per day right from the start along with group strength-building exercises, as Gregorio Manzano whips his team into shape ahead of the Europa League qualifiers at the end of the month.

The squad will depart the Majadahonda facilities on Wednesday the 6th and head on over to Los Ángeles de San Rafael in Segovia, where they will remain until Sunday the 17th.

On that day, Manzano’s men are scheduled to face off against Alcalá for their first friendly of the pre-season at the Madrid-based Segunda División B side’s stadium.

The official site confirms Atleti will participate in the Trofeo Colombino de Huelva, and that we will square off against hosts Recreativo on Friday the 12th of August.

The player’s due back to the squad on Monday are:

Sergio Asenjo, Joel, Iago, Juan Valera, Sílvio, Javi Manquillo, Alberto Perea, Jorge Pulido, Paco Regalón, César Ortiz, Antonio López, Filipe Luis, Mario Suárez, Raúl García, Paulo Assunçao, Koke, Gabi, Juanfran, Eduardo Salvio, Fran Mérida, Jose Antonio Reyes, Alberto Noguera, Saúl, Diego Costa, Pedro and Collado.

The list above does not include Diego Godín, Diego Forlán, Elías, Luis Perea and Sergio Agüero, who are all away on international duties with their respective national teams for the Copa América, which kicks off on Friday.

Spain youth international Borja González will also arrive late as he has been called up for the UEFA European U-19 Championship.

While Pulido and Koke will be with their team-mates to begin the preseason, they will join the Spanish U-20 side on July 17th for the U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

Alvaro Domínguez is on vacation until the 13th following his cup-winning participation in the European U-21 Championships in Denmark.

Miranda is set to join his new team-mates on the 10th upon the conclusion of his final season with Sao Paulo.

  • Heißenberg

btw, 7th I think Saul is bit to young for the first team 😀

Saul will be the best striker until either Borja and Forlan return or we sign someone else (Aguero and Diego Costa are bound to leave). He can show his potential!

@Heißenberg, I know, but i saw him play, that is i think he is ready, such confidence on the ball he has, this is why he plays for atletico b. we should at least try him out cuz i dont think he will stay long with us untill a bigger club take him.
