Galatasaray have completed the signing of Czech defender Tomas Ujfalusi, with the player signing a two-year deal in Turkey.

The 33-year-old was presented today after undergoing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The former Fiorentina player had two years left on his contract after signing an extension with Atlético in October 2010. His deal in Turkey has the option of a further twelve months.

Galatasaray are reported to have paid €3m to snap up the services of our ageing defender, and are still optimistic about completing the signings of his Atleti team-mates Diego Forlán and José Antonio Reyes.

Those deals, however, will take considerably more effort on Galatasaray’s part to wrap up.

Will you miss Ujfalusi, or are you more than happy to see him shipped out to Turkey?

    uljfa should shave…

  • Yon

Goodbye! Good luck! This is gonna be a horrible summer……

  • Sweden

    Ujfa should not shave!

  • Ringo Schut

Now Silvio has to adapt faster than initially planned (I guess)…
Is it still a good idea to sell Valera now?
He is first back up again.

Really funny if all the big names leave an we finally reach the goal we’ve had since 2007: third place

  • Davide

Anybody has any suggestion what to do with A Lopez? He has become worse that Valera these last 2 years.

  • Sweden

Hehe actually, all we need to achieve that goal is a world class playmaker, Left winger and a good forward. Allthough it would be nice to keep Reyes and also Forlan. We have money to buy what we need if Aguero and De Gea is sold.

    Aguero 45€, De Gea 20€, UFO 3€

    Left Winger 15€, Playmaker 20€, Forward 15€

  • Sweden

    And some good coaching ofc..

  • Lubo

Mixed feelings about Ujfa.. He should have been used as a good backup, but yes, he’s aging and he was a bit slow. Limited in attack support also. But I will definitely miss him. Good battling defender who never gave up. Although there is a big rivalry between Slovakia and Czech Republic in any sport, I really liked this guy. There aren’t many other Czech footballers I can say this about.
Tomáš, veľa štastia v Turecku a držíme ti palce. Budeš nám v Atléticu chýbať.

  • starvs

It’s true the team isn’t in need of a whole make over to be competative, just a few quality pieces like Sweden mentioned.

If its either keeping Toto or Reyes that is a no brainer to me. Toto is worse and has no passport, sell him if you must. I mean I rather have Reyes and the passport spot than Salvio, no spot and the 5-10 more we’d get for Reyes compared to Salvio.

Can’t see Reyes agreeing to go to a second rate league in the prime of his career though, just won’t happen.

  • Perhaps we will be forced to sell Toto since accordingly to AS Godin wont get the passport in time, so one from the group: Miranda, Elias, Godin or Toto will have to leave. Fucking sad.

  • javi

Urban, its probably going to be Godin because weve had good offers for him.
I just cant believe the team cant pull some political muscle to get that stupid application processed quickly. Were the hell are Gil and Cerezo’s contacts now when we need them.
By the way, we still have to get rid of Diego Costa who is also a non EU player.

  • Sweden

Sad to see Godin go if that’s the case, Costa is not staying I think.

  • Davide

    javi//

Gil family and political muscle don’t mix. His father made enough political enemies to effect the Gils for three generations.

  • Grande-GS

    A second rate League ? 🙂

So Why u want to buy a player from a second rate League ? [Arda]
Oh sorry , it is a difference between [Want & Buy]

If u dont want to be second rated club ,
Find the way to keep ur players at home dude…

  • starvs

No reason to get defensive, it is a second rate league, that is fact. It is not a top 5 league in Europe, I’d consider that second rate for a international level player.

Obviosly good players can play in second rate leagues, especially if its their home country.

  • Javi

Davide, since they dont have any pull they are of no use to us. Lets buy then out

  • dgsozkan

starvs is right. Ufo’s leave is sad but it’s not a big lose as all we know. What’s bothering me is what will be this summer , if forlan and reyes stay , will Kun change his mind , is De Gea’s deal complete more importantly if the worst case scenario happen, are our alternatives are ready? There is also a very big question in my mind which is Manzano. I’m not satisfied with his replacement at all, and I can’t believe in him even though I’ve tired really hard. It gonna be long long summer

  • Sweden

Turkish media says that also Reyes is 100% done for Galatasaray, that sucks.

  • Javi

Reyes wants to gain a spot on the roja national team, it makes no sense then if he goes to Turkey, his chances are better staying here

  • Javi

Rumor has it that our wise directors have offered Fran Merida to Espanyol because Manzano doesn’t see a spot for him
This kid has real potential and I would gate to see him develop it on another club

  • Davide

    Javi//

I think Merída is going to be used as a cash+player deal Atlético for Osvaldo.

  • SoLobo

Why buy Osvaldo and spend so much money?? There are much better and cheaper strikers out there. And mundodeportivo today is suggesting chaos for Atletico! Merida, Forlan and Joel are about to leave! Oh my!!

  • Lubo

I’m giving up guys! Seriously, this board is leading us right into the horseshit! No wait, this must be at least brontoshit! That guys should commit suicide, that would be helpful for improving the mankind’s genetic potential.

  • Sebyk

Exactly Lubo, so far it is going from bad to worse…

  • 7th

no waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay meria is going to espanyol. i want him to stay.

  • javi

    REYES STAYS:
this is on AS from Atleti’s website:

  • starvs

AS reporting both Reyes and Atleti have rejected an offer for him from Gala.

Wonder why he wouldn’t want to play in a first rate league like Turkey?

  • javi

I have not been able to enter the teams website to confirm, its probably being bombarded by visits right now.
So if its true, then there go the rumors, and we all feel better.
Now if can just keep Joel as our stating goalie and get a veteran to back him up in case Asenjo is not well…

  • 7th

what about fran merida? this guy is what we need. if he leaves, it must be on loan.

  • SoLobo

I totally agree with javi. A veteran goalie would be an excellent option. He could help Joel with his experience, and at the same time, Joel would play as a starter.
