The bombshell that Kun Agüero dropped on us wasn’t the only bad news for Atlético yesterday. The club had approached Toni Muñoz and Kiko with job offers, but the two former players turned down positions at the club.
Jesús García Pítarch will leave at the end of the season, and Toni, who held the role previously from 2003 till 2006, was our prime candidate for the role of Sporting Director.
However, yesterday it was announced that the former left back has decided to fulfill his contract at Getafe, where he has one year remaining.
Former fan favorite Kiko Narváez was offered a job as club ambassador. This would make him the public face of the club, while he would also give his input to the technical staff.
But Kiko too turned down the offer, after having discussed the possibility with his family.
It is unclear to whom Atlético will now turn, although another former rojiblanco, Caminero, has been linked to García Pítarch’s job.
