Atlético Madrid B were beaten in their final match of the season, losing 2-0 against Conquense at home. The Rojiblancos had nothing left to play for and finished 11th in the league.
We ended the season with 13 wins, 11 draws and 14 losses, having scored as many goals as we conceded (43) in what is largely considered a disappointing campaign.
The opponents were fighting relegation, and after taking all three points, jumped over Deportivo B in the table and avoided relegation from the Segunda División B on the last day of the season.
Antonio Rivas had to do without Pulido, Noguera and Borja who were all selected for the first team and he decided to give some youngsters a shot who haven’t played much this year. But with some new faces and not much at stake the team was lacking intensity and the visitors were allowed to take the lead early on.
Only seven minutes in Cristian tried to cross the ball but hit Llorián’s arm and the referee pointed to the spot. Berodia converted the penalty and scored the goal Conquense so badly needed.
During the match there were chances on both sides, but Iago stopped attempts from Cristian and Juachi. Our Uruguayan prodigy Seba Gallegos was Atleti’s most dangerous player, but Conquense goalkeeper Eduard stood in his way.
Fer also saw a shot stopped by Eduard, who then immediately pumped the ball forward and started a counter-attack for Conquense, which led to their second goal. Nacho Calvilla crossed to Cristian who slotted it into the net and put the result beyond doubt.
