Antonio Rivas has welcomed two new players to Atlético B. Last week the club announced the signing of goalkeeper Iago Herrerín, today deals with Iván Benítez and Jorge Miramón were made public. The two players add some experience to this young team, while it now looks more certain that one of Jorge Pulido and Paco Regalón might stay on with the first team, seeing as Benítez is a direct replacement for them.
Iván Benítez is a twenty-two year old (31-5-1988) centerback from the Canary Islands. Benítez played in the Las Palmas-youth setup for nine years and made his debut for the islanders in the Segunda A, Spain’s third division. Last summer Benítez joined Barcelona for one season and helped them gain promotion to the Segunda División. Now Benítez, who has represented Spain in the U16, U17 and U19 level, has decided to join Atlético.
Jorge Miramón Santagertrudis was born on the 2nd of June in 1989 in Zaragoza. Until now Miramón had never left his hometown, as he raised through every level of Real Zaragoza’s youth system. The central midfielder, who can also play on the right, has played for Spain U16 and U17.
Atlético B starts training next Monday. The team missed out on promotion play offs in 2009/2010, after being fourth for most of the season. With these new signings Antonio Rivas hopes to make a new push for promotion.
