David de Gea has responded to Tuesday’s rumours which suggested he had completed a €20m move to Manchester United.
He held a press conference to make clear that he has not received any offers, but he didn’t rule out a move to England in the summer.
“I’m very happy here. I’ve got a contract until 2013, I have great affection for this club and there are still a lot of league games left. I won’t make any decisions until the season is over. I have read about the rumours, but they are all lies. There aren’t any offers.
“I know nothing of any offers from any team, not from other clubs or from Atlético,” said the goalkeeper, which is interesting considering Miguel Ángel Gil said that the club had received offers from Chelsea and Manchester United and had offered a new contract to the young goalie.
“After the season, when the transfer window opens, we will see and discuss everything regarding my future.”
De Gea continued:”If Atleti show their desire to keep me, then it would be very difficult to leave. This will always be my club.”
He was then asked if his decision depends on Atleti’s plans for the summer, but De Gea avoided the question by saying he hoped the team would be even better next season. He also said he wasn’t worried the rumours might affect his relationship with the fans.
“I don’t mind all the reports, but I don’t think it’s needed to write so much about me. I’m here now, I’ve been here all my life. I’ve always given everything to the team and whether I go or not, I’ll always continue to fight for the team. I don’t think there is any reason for the fans to turn against me. We’ve got the best fans in the world and I’m sure they’ll support me until the very last day.”
