Atlético Madrid B failed to beat Coruxo at home in a match which ended 1-1. Both goals were scored from the penalty spot.

At the Cerro del Espino our B-team has proven to be a challenge for any visiting team, but this time the missed opportunities prevented Atlético from distancing themselves from their opponents. We dominated the entire match, but failed to make the most of our chances.

Just three minutes in Borja already had a big chance to open the scoring but he found goalkeeper Alberto in his way. With a strong midfield display Atleti producted a wave of attacks which after half an hour of play resulted in a penalty. Noguera was brought down inside the box and Fer converted the spot kick.

Even after the goal the team continued to attack but a lack of fortune and profilicacy in front of goal cost Atlético B dearly, when Coruxo were awarded a penalty after one of the few times they appeared in Atlético’s box. Right back César Ortiz fouled Víctor Besada and Costas, undeservedly, tied the score.

Coruxo even could have left with the full three points but Zurbano failed to score when he came eye-to-eye with Iago. The visitors will be satisfied with a draw however, knowing Atlético B had only themselves to blame for not beating a direct rival.
