For some years now Atlético has intended to bring up more canteranos to the first team and Jorge Pulido’s contract extension shows the philosophy at work.
Like Borja and Koke, Pulido is part of the first team but is registered with Atlético B, allowing him to play games with our reserves. With the inclusion of the trio, Atleti’s first team now consists of seven players from our youth system with several more out on loan.
Pulido is yet to make his debut in la Liga so his contract extension speaks volumes about the confidence the club has in him. The 19-year old has been handed a new deal until 2014.
His previous agreement was set to run out this summer and there were rumours of Barcelona being interested in snapping him up for free, but thankfully the Spanish youth international has decided to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in the Vicente Calderón.
