Atlético Madrid B took a point from yesterday’s match against Conquense and have finally left the relegation zone.

Our reserves intended to take the full three points in La Fuensanta, but were dealt an early blow when Jorge Pulido was stretchered off.

The talented centre back stopped forward Aday Benítez, but his ankle collapsed in the process. He had to be replaced by Atienza and although we haven’t received any updates, it’s expected Pulido might be out long term.

It was a setback for coach Antonio Rivas, who was also missing midfielder Koke and striker Borja. The duo have been selected by Quique Sánchez Flores for the first team’s match against Racing tonight.

But despite the personnel absences, it was Atlético who took the lead. In the 27th minute Mínguez curled in a dangerous freekick and right-back Jorge headed it past his own goalkeeper putting us up 0-1. The goal came right after our keeper Iago came out the victor in a one-on-one situation with Cristian.

In the second half the home side intended to pressure our defence and shortly after the break they scored the equalizer. It was defender Garrido who put the sides level when he beat Iago with a header from a freekick.

Substitute Roberto Batres created three good opportunities and José Collado was also given one last chance, but no more goals were scored.

The first half of the season is now officially over and next week the second round of matches in the Segunda B commences, when Atlético B host Getafe B.

Line-up: Iago; César, Regalón, Pulido (“15 Atienza), Cantero; Fer, Sergio Marcos; Vítor (“63 Batres), Noguera (“83 Roberto), Mínguez; and Collado.

Goals: 0-1 Jorge o.g. (“27); 1-1 Garrido (“51)
