Atletico defender Tomas Ujfalusi suffered a minor ankle injury following a rough challenge by Sergio Aguero in training this morning, according to reports in the Spanish media.

The Czech is now a doubt for our league match on Monday against Racing Santander. If the 32-year-old doesn’t recover in time, then Juan Valera will likely serve as his replacement.

Ujfa was to take part in tonight’s ‘Champions for Africa’ charity game at the Vicente Calderón, but will most likely miss out after sustaining the knock.

Diego Forlan, also recovering from an ankle sprain, stayed in Uruguay as he undergoes therapy with his trusted physio. He is set to return to the squad on the 31st.

Raul Garcia and Fran Merida to start on the wings?
In other news, manager Quique Sanchez Flores experimented with Raul Garcia and Fran Merida on the wings at today’s practice.

Because of Simao’s exit and Jose Antonio Reyes’ one-game suspension after being sent-off against Espanyol just before the break, Quique has very limited options at his disposal for the home clash against Racing.

Although new signing Elias would be eligible to play in that match, he is not expected to start and it is unclear whether he will feature. The Brazilian trained with the team today and will be officially presented tomorrow.

I’d rather have Filipe as a winger. I don’t see any winging qualities with Raulito.

He brought stability when playing on RW in some pretty recent games.

It could work, but it would be weird to not take along Perea or Minguez or Gallegos.
