Atlético have reportedly agreed terms with Juanfran, and the deal for the Osasuna winger now hinges on an agreement between the two clubs.
AS reports that the deal is imminent, and that Atleti will pay los Rojillos roughly €5m for Simao’s replacement. The Pamplonan outfit had rejected our first bid of about €3m, but the €5m price tag may still be reduced with the inclusion of one of our players in the negotiations.
If completed, the signing will round out the winter additions to the Colchonero squad after Brazilian midfielder Elias was brought in from Corinthians.
Outgoing deals are still in the works however, with Sergio Asenjo, Ignacio Camacho and Juanito all said to be close to following Simao out the door.
Juanfran came up through the Real Madrid youth system and made 6 appearances for the senior club. He then spent a year on loan with Espanyol, making 30 appearances, before being transferred to Osasuna on a freebie in the summer of 2006.
The 25-year old is a regular fixture in José Antonio Camacho’s side, having started all 16 domestic league matches of the current campaign.
How would you feel about this signing? Do you think Juanfran would be an upgrade over Simao?
