Atlético Madrid B is slowly moving up the table and out of the relegation zone.
Results are steadily improving for our second side, who beat Deportivo B on Sunday and have lost just two of the last ten matches.
A noteworthy change has been the combination of trio Koke, Sergio Marcos and Noguera. They lined up together in the last three matches, from which we took seven points, and provide a lot of stability in midfield.
An own goal by Deportivo la Coruña defender Insúa made the difference in Cerro del Espino.
In the 30th minute the outstanding Alberto Perea crossed from the right wing. Our young striker Jarju shot on goal and in an attempt to clear the ball, Insúa unfortunately put it in the back of his own net.
Moments later, goalkeeper Diego did well to prevent Sergio Marcos from scoring Atlético’s second goal.
El Fabril went searching for an equalizer in the second half, and came close on two occasions. Insúa, who hoped to make up for his mistake earlier, and Añón saw their efforts stopped by Atlético B goalkeeper Iago Herrerín, in one of his best performances of the season.
After that Atleti locked down the defence and created a big opportunity on the other end. But Vítor, from an accurate cross by Mínguez, saw his shot stopped by Diego.
The goalkeeper also prevented Atleti B substitute Roberto from doubling our lead in the added time, which meant no more goals were scored; 1-0.
