Atlético Madrid B picked up a point in their visit to Pontevreda and are no longer bottom of the Segunda División B, group I.
Our second team perhaps could have taken the full three points, had Alberto Perea not missed a penalty at 1-1. The score remained a tie, which means Atlético B now has 13 points from 15 games.
Coach Antonio Rivas again started with the creative midfield trio of Koke, Noguera and Sergio Marcos, but had to make a lot of changes to his team.
Our two left-backs, Javi Cantero and Andrés Llorian, are injured, while makeshift defender Mínguez was suspended after receiving a yellow card last week. Right-back César Ortiz also sat out through suspension, which means Iván Benítez and Pichu Atienza were handed a start.
The aforementioned trio was able to pull the strings and dictate the play in midfield, but as we’ve seen so often this season the team was lacking in the final third.
The first half passed without many opportunities for either side, but the second half started with a bang. It was Noguera, who was handed his second consecutive start, who opened the scoring.
But twenty minutes later Pontevreda equalised through a header by Adín.
Then shortly after Perea was given the opportunity to put Atlético ahead again, but he failed to convert a penalty kick, which meant the game ended at 1-1.
