After three consecutive draws Atlético Madrid B experienced the bitter taste of defeat once again.
Segunda División Group I leaders Celta B comfortably beat our second team 3-1, as coach Antonio Rivas had to do without the injured quintet of Koke, Cantero, Roberto, Vítor and Collado. Team captain Paco Regalón was also unavailable to the manager because of suspension.
The Galicians were simply superior and showed why they are leading the table, even if the first opportunity of the match was for Atlético.
But Celta B, with Sergio Rodríguez starting at right back, had control over the match and struck for the first time after half an hour, when midfielder Jota opened the scoring.
When Saúl received a direct red card a minute before half time, this match was practically over. The youngster was sent off for elbowing his opponent.
With a man down Atlético B tried to keep the door shut, but they had to concede after little less than an hour when Mateo doubled the home team’s lead.
Atlético responded within a couple of minutes when Mínguez scored a great shot from distance.
In the final minute of the game the referee controversially awarded a penalty to Celta, which Edgar converted to make it 3-1.
