Forlán offered to Real Madrid for €18m

Atlético intermediary has reportedly contacted Los Blancos for a deal

Atletico striker Diego Forlan offered to Real Madrid

MARCA reports that an intermediary authorised to act on the behalf of Atlético has contacted cross-town rivals Real Madrid in order to discuss a possible deal for striker Diego Forlán.

According to the report, Forlán is being offered to Los Blancos for €18m. Atleti officials are allegedly willing to negotiate that fee, which is half of the Uruguayan’s release clause.

The report goes on to say that Rojiblanco manager Quique Sánchez Flores will not impede a transfer, given his rocky relationship with the attacker.

Atleti’s No. 7 has struggled mightily since his stellar start to the season, when he scored three goals in the first two Liga games.  In his last 12 matches however, he has failed to hit the back of the net.

In addition to his on-field troubles, Forlán has strained his relationship with the Colchonero fan base. Supporters have accused him of slacking off in games and were insulted by comments the striker made about being open to a return to England.

Other clubs said to be pondering a possible winter deal for the 31-year old superstar are Tottenham and Juventus.

  • Might be a little controverisal, but I think it’s time to sell him.

He’s 31, and now is a good time as ever. Sometimes players can spend too long somewhere, their morale drops and the only way to solve it is find pastures new.

If the club can get the money talked about for him, that would be superb for a 31 year old player.

The only question for me, is where do you look for a replacement.

Lisandro López has been mentioned a couple of times over the last few weeks, as well as Rogelio Funes Mori.

I can believe that we’re looking to sell Forlán for obvious reasons, but I’m not sure why we would even approach Real.

It’s obvious we do need a spark offensively, with Jurado gone and Forlán out of form we simply don’t have enough options. Let’s hope Forlán does find his feet again to solve our problems. That’s the easiest way to kill stories like these

  • Lyon paid a lot for Lisandro, and would almost certainly want to recoup the fee (€24) for a striker who who done well for them.

Mori is too lightweight, and he’s very much a fashionable name among European football fans right now. I’ve watched him quite a lot, and he’s very much overhyped.

An ideal situation of course, would be for him to recapture that glorious form and kill these stories – like you say.

Jurado, I don’t think I ever want to see/hear his name again – it saddens me that much he left. The timing of his departure was truly gutting.

    Swap for Benzema? 🙂

  • I hate when they denigrate Fórlan like that. He’s working tremendously on and off the pitch to get his form back. His relationship with QSF is same as ever.

I hope this rumour will blow over soon.

Marca is notorious for stirring up the media waves with false and unfounded news stories. And this one has all the characteristics of being one of them. I dont believe any of it.

if they’re going to sell him, it makes absolutely no sense to sell him to another spanish team
