After Paulo Assunção, José Antonio Reyes and Tomas Ujfalusi it seems Luis Perea is the latest Atlético player to sign a contract extension.
We informed you last week that several of our players are still waiting for a new deal, and the club has decided to hand Perea renewal as his contract runs out next summer.
According to newspaper MARCA, should Perea agree to the extension, it will tie him to Atleti until 2012. Under a clause in his current contract, it would have automatically been extended had he played 25 games, but the club decided to reward his performances so far this season and hand him a new deal earlier than expected.
Atlético’s directors will hope that Perea, who turns 32 in January, continues to play well when called upon for the next two seasons.
It must be noted that two weeks ago MARCA reported that Sergio Agüero had agreed to an extension but the Argentine still hasn’t put pen to paper. We’re hopeful both he and Perea will soon tie their futures to Atleti.
