David de Gea, Álvaro Domínguez and Fran Mérida have qualified for the European U-21 Championship.

If Spain U-21 manage to reach to the semi finals of the tournament, to be played in June 2011, they will automatically qualify for the Olympic Games in 2012.

La Rojita took on Croatia U-21. The first match in Spain, with De Gea and Domínguez both playing, ended in a narrow 2-1 victory.

But Spain convincingly won the second match last night; 3-0. Domínguez opened the scoring, but was injured just before full time.

Rubén Pérez started both games and completed the first, while Fran Mérida didn’t feature at all.

We reported about Forlán’s national team worries last week, but in the end Cachavacha did feature for Uruguay against China.

Forlán played 65 minutes, but all goals in Uruguay’s 4-0 win were scored after our prolific striker had been substituted.

Luis Perea also played a friendly match for his country yesterday. Colombia drew 0-0 with the United States but Perea didn’t feature.

Colombia played another friendly last week, against Ecuador. With Perea on the pitch the entire match, the Colombians won 1-0 through a Falcao goal.

Our Portuguese midfielder Tiago played two qualifiers for his country this week. Portugal won both matches 3-1, with Tiago twice coming on in the 74th minute.

On Friday Portugal beat Denmark and yesterday Iceland were beaten.

These kids play marvelously. I can see them playing as well as the first team in a few years.
Ruben Perez would be a nice addition for Atleti.

He might, but this season we already have Assuncao, Tiago, Raul Garcia and Mario Suarez.
In a year or perhaps later we can really add Koke and more probably Camacho.

I’m really looking forward to a Camacho – Fran – Koke midfield, hope it’ll happen and the players keep enhancing their skills, they belong to the biggest talents around!

Agreed, this year we have the midfield covered. But he would be a good option for the future. I would not be surprised to see Camacho go in a trade for another forward in winter.
