In our preview for the Sevilla game we complained about the fact that Juanito was selected over Jorge Pulido, but the youngster’s absence might be explained by the club’s decision to move him back to Atlético B.
Our second side surely could use some defensive reinforcements, and we expect Pulido will now continue to play his games for Atleti B until he’s called upon by Quique Sánchez Flores.
Just like Koke, Pulido was promoted to the first team this summer, but registered with Atlético B to make sure they don’t lose match fitness.
But even without the two first teamers, Antonio Rivas’ men weren’t able to get their first win of the season.
We visited Montañeros, a team from A Coruña managed by former Atlético B coach Abraham García.
It was the Galicians who opened the scoring when Herbert headed in a corner in the 33rd minute.
Until that moment the home team had only threatened from set pieces, as Atlético B were actually playing quite well. The players were committed to take their first win, but with Saúl and Collado unavailable the team were missing fire power up front.
We continued to attack in the second half, but failed to convert our chances. In the 83rd minute, Abel finally equalised for los Rojiblancos.
In the following minutes Gallegos and substitute Roberto failed to score to give Atleti a late win. This was only the first point we’ve earned away from the Cerro del Espino, but Atlético B will feel like they deserved something more out of this match.
Atlético B now sit at the bottom of the table with just three points from seven matches.
