Atlético Madrid are looking for their first win at the Camp Nou in over ten years this evening, taking on champions Barcelona in a crucial early season clash.

Both teams will be desperate for the three points having lost ground on leaders Real Madrid already in the table, in what promises to be an intriguing tactical battle between two of the top sides in Europe.

    simply painful…

  • Karlp

very neat play, but 1 unguarded cross results directly in goal.

  • Mitch

Excellent pass from Torres to Correa!

Is making fouls part of our gameplay or are we just so damn slow and late to every challenge?

  • Koke

Fair result. Both teams seemed a little bit tired which is understandable. So the table looks just as it did before the day started but I think we had the best day out of all three teams because we got to check off Barca at the Camp Nou from our to do list, which is one of the hardest games we’ve got. As I said, Real Madrid will drop points here and there, so will Barca. So will we, but the important thing is to treat every single damn point as the holy grail. That’s the only reason we won in 13/14. I’m pleased with this result, we honestly could even have won but so could Barca so a point is not bad at all.

If we don’t see more of Correa after this game I will throw a fit. Carrasco was good too, always dangerous. Seems like we have fans who prefer one over the other; I think both have so much to offer. It’s just that Correa is the one that is criminally underplayed.

Griezmann. What a player. Top 5 for sure; it’s incredible how fast he’s improving. Just when you thought he was a complete attacker, you also see his incredible defending skills and great playmaking capabilities as well. My only worry is that he will burn out soon from exhaustion what with all the work he does in every single game, always playing 90 minutes. As long as Atleti can replicate their form against Sporting Gijon, we should definitely be able to give Griezmann some rest and bring on Correa or Gaitan in games when we’re up.

    On to the next one!

Gaitan instead of Torres would have been the better choice of substitution really. Torres offered nothing after he came on, not a single sign of hustle or determination from him. I’ve noticed this trend for this whole season; he just doesn’t seem to care whenever he’s brought on. I know all of you guys love him and so do I, but he’s just not Atleti quality for me, and what’s also criminal is him fixing his hair and walking on the pitch when Griezmann is fucking operating as a defensive midfielder, running his ass off. Extra quality would have surely been brought on had Gaitan been playing today and we wouldn’t have needed to demote Griezmann to playing as DM, when he’s already doing that playing as a free forward.

The game could have gone either way today and we could have played against Barcelona like any other side after Messi and Busquets were off. Those two are the heart and soul of the Barca team. That’s like losing both Griezmann and Gabi at the same time and it’s disheartening to the other players. The morale was definitely down on the Barca team and had we countered this better, I think we could have gone away with a win. But, of course so could Barcelona but their defense and midfield isn’t as good as ours with Busquets out.

I am still pissed about the free header for Rakitic. I am sure Simeone is too. That’s just unacceptable for Simeone’s Atletico.

I want t also say that Gameiro played very well today. His pace is certainly something we’ve needed and when this pace is combined with chemistry with Griezmann, our attacking can be very menacing. Give it about two months till we start hearing “Griezmann to Gameiro, Gameiro to Griezmann — and it’s a goal!” in every game.

Wow, Torres assisted on the tying goal and made some good runs with no one crossing the ball. You really need to pay attention to the game.
