  • Jeronamo Pakor Jones

Why the fuck are we back to this 4 central mid bullshit AGAIN?

  • Jeronamo Pakor Jones

    new season same old shit

  • Kris

    Because Simeone.

  • Kris

Surprised at Carrasco doing some good work. His overall play has been quite good today. Gameiro is pretty involved, but we are gonna have to do much better to break this team’s fucking defense. Put in Gaitan for Tiago or Gabi for fuck’s sake.

  • Jeronamo Pakor Jones

As Kris said we need Gaitan in for Gabi or Tiago. A blind man can see we need more attacking in this game than anything else. This is Alaves for heavens sake not Barca

  • aileen

No wonder.Just 4-3-3.Simply prodigiuos idea. And Gameiro, no words.

  • atleti10

Carrasco’s not good enough to start. He’s busy but his end product isn’t there yet.

How did we get so shit at corners.

  • Jeronamo Pakor Jones

Lol wow right at the end

  • Kris

My ass hurt after this fucking. Goddamnit, every single time!!! It’s tough being an Atletico.

  • atleti10

    Long season ahead.

  • Mrtn

That’s what you deserve for fielding 4 [email protected] defensive midfiekders against a second tier team.
Simeone can spend all the money in the world still he couldn’t play football with his team.
UNBELIEVABLE, really, Koke, Gabi, Saul, Tiago????????? SERIOUSLY??:??
Another season of never ending struggle, another fortune spent on players only to watch the 4 defensive midfielders.
I am so sad because I had some hope Simeone can develope but the truth is he will never change and he is not good enough to train a talented, technically gifted squad like this.
These players could play a totally fluid, possession based game with lots of passes, one-twos but you can see that they are not trained for that, they can’t connect, the passes are not flowing.

Simeone doesn’t need Gaitan or Gameiro, he needs Diego Costa and Raul Garcia. Just remember guys, in a game like this these 2 would surely fight out penalties, red cards and goals with all their bullying, gritting, fighting (and heading btw, how can you not score a single [email protected] goal from 20 corners??). We let them go, and since then spent about 150 M on players that do not suite Simeone.
This is a Club with dual identities for 3 years now: we got the financial power to be a star club, sign players like a star club and then give them to Simeone to transform them into very good defensive midfielders.
    Bulllllllllshit.
    Vamos Atleti!!!!!

If you play with 4 DMs in game against Alaves at your own place it has to end like that. Im telling you this season depends on whether Cholo can get out of his comfort zone and start playing offensively when needed.

We had 30 miunutes of efficent game time because only for so long Cholo got the tactics right. The way to start winning trophies again is less “cholismo” in our play, not more.

  • Weiter

We should always be playing offensively, except against Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern etc. Even then, we should at least be playing pretty offensively at home. Otherwise, we ultimately lose out on the titles.

  • Kris

Calm down, man. I know it sucks but this is the first game of the season. We got 37 more to go. Patience is key and Simeone is learning. He took out fucking Gabi and Tiago to put Saul and Koke in their positions, and brought in all attacking players.

There’s no need to panic, he will start doing better but I agree he needs to stop fielding 4 CDMs and realize that we are a big fucking club and teams are only going to start defending more if he doesn’t change his shit. Plus, this game wasn’t tied by Simeone, we had a fuckload of chances to score but couldn’t put it in the back of the net. We must have hit the bar like 4 times.

  • Asian Judy

Ive been really impressed with gaitan since preseason. I hope to see him have more minutes.

  • Ahmad Hossainy

Actually, taking both Gabi & Tiago off was a mistake, he should have kept one of them and took off Saul who can’t defend as good as them .
I believe that we wouldn’t have conceded that silly goal if one of Gabi and Tiago was there .

You know what, I think Saul is one of our biggest problems, I really mean that, and I know nobody will like it .
Saul is not as good as Gabi or Tiago or Augusto as a CM, and not as good as Gaitan or Correa as a wingers/AM, but he must play, he will never be benched, simply because he is a Simeone man .

Benching Saul will solve many of our problems, it will allow us to start with :
    Gabi – Koke
    Gaitan – Grizi – Correa
    Gameiro

  • Kris

Yea I know. It messed up our balance, but I was just responding to Mrtn’s comments that Simeone does not have room for change. The audacity to replace both Gabi and Tiago for attacking intent is something that we would never see before this season. Simeone is willing to change, and he showed it today at least to me, with those changes.

But I do disagree with taking both of the veteran midfielders out because it leaves a big hole in the team. The emphasis on defensive midfielders has been vital to our success in the Simeone era, and Gabi+Tiago partnership has been the backbone of the team for years now. I have always advocated for taking out at least one of them, but never both. But the transition has to start now. We need only play one of Gabi and Tiago and let Koke/Saul learn from them about defensive duties and “smart” fouls. Gabi/Tiago are not gonna be around for very long, and we can’t have this “backbone” broken when they leave.

But long season ahead, we’ll just watch and learn. And this draw should not come as a surprise for you as a longtime Atletico fan. I felt today like Griezmann felt after losing the Euros Finals. I am used to this fucking shit.

    Aupa Atleti!

  • Hannu

Though this kind of results might come to haunt you at the end of the season when every point is needed if you wanna beat the other two.

  • Hannu

You are right Simeone needs Diego Costa and Raul Garcia. Mandzukic would have been ideal too but he annoyed Simeone and was too slow. Atleti lacks that fighting! Though I would still keep Gaitan. 🙂
