According to reports in French sports journal L’Équipe, Antoine Griezmann has prolonged his deal with Atlético Madrid until 2021 quenching all rumours of a departure.
The 25 year-old star had been linked with a number of English clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United as well as Paris Saint-Germain.
The focus of the new deal is rumoured to have been an increased salary and a new buyout clause of a whopping €100million, reinforcing his stay in the rojiblanco strip.
Towards the end of May we reported that the Frenchman was set to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal, and it looks now as if confirmation is imminent as the club prepare for next season.
Griezmann will now look to provide the goals for France in the Euros with all rumours of his club loyalty put to rest – a relief for Atleti as a good tournament could see his value hit the roof.
We await news still on Fernando Torres’ renewal, with recent reports saying that negotiations are still ongoing. His loan from Milan expires on June 30th, after which he will become a free agent.
How important is Griezmann to Atlético’s future? Do you see him at the club long term?
