Atlético Madrid play the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night, as Bayern Munich visit the Vicente Calderón for the first ever time.

Diego Simeone’s team are looking to avenge a painful defeat to the German heavyweights the last time the two sides met, way back in 1974 when Atleti lost out on the European Cup in dramatic fashion.

Nick- Thanks so much for the scarf. Aupa Atleti. All supporters at the Calderon- I’m so jealous but enjoy the rocking night and atmosphere! I’ll be cheering on at a local pub in California. An image for good luck from the calderon (Atleti v Barca 2-0 victory)

The confidence Saul has is just unbelievable. He dribled those bayern players like they were second division players. His goal has to be one of the best in the champions league this season.

Sorry i didn’t comment during the match. I enjoyed our first half a lot and that moment in the second when Torres hit the post but I really wasn’t comfortable with how deep we sat back for majority of the second half. Also what’s up with that one late sub?

  • Ahmad Hossainy

Yeah, me neither, Bayern don’t have MSN, I think if we attacked a little more we could have scored a second goal, Bayern’s defense is not that good, just like you and I said to @Koke few weeks ago when he claimed that it’s very strong .

I had no doubt that we will score tonight, and I’m very sure we will score in Munich, but are we going to concede, and how many ?! that what will decide the tie .
And It’s very unlikely to concede more than two .

I predicted 2-0 for us, and I think if we searched for the second we would have scored it, but 1-0 is still a great result at home, much better than 2-1, and we were very lucky to not concede in a couple of chances for Bayern .

  • You’re more than welcome buddy!

I think the greatest factor was our clean sheet. We need an away goal next week to go through because even losing 2-1 in Germany spells progression for us
