While Barcelona officially announced they have a rat problem, a few hours later in sunny Madrid, young Ángel Correa was officially presented as an Atlético Madrid player.

The 20-year-old Argentine was signed last May, but the medical team detected a tumor in his heart and the transfer was nearly scrapped.

However, the youngster persevered through the surgery and his big day as a rojiblanco has finally come.

“For months, Correa played the most important match of his life and he won,” said Atlético de Madrid President Enrique Cerezo.

“You’re a very signing special and this is a presentation we’ve been wanting to do for a while.”

After Atlético signed the promising youngster, photos of young Correa wearing Atleti jerseys and training kits were posted on social media.

“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of playing for Atlético. I’ve always liked this team and it’s a dream come true.”

When asked about a possible loan, Correa said that he’s calm and going to work his best in pre-season to earn a spot on the team.

“I’m a kid who still has a lot to learn and there’s no better place to do that than Atleti,” said Correa.

Correa then went out to the field in his new red and white kit to greet the fans.

Like Vietto, Correa has not yet been assigned a squad number.

A few years ago, Simeone said he really liked both Vietto and Correa. Well, now you have them, Cholo.

Now, everything seems to point that the next player to be officially presented will be Yannick Ferreira Carrasco.

Correa’s fought very hard. So proud of this guy. Hope he’s a total beast playing for Atleti.

Its impossible not to like this guy. Lets hope he fulfills his potential on the field.

He said he dreamed about playing for Atleti since he was a kid, and many people say he was an Atleti fan for long time, I’ve seen several old photos for him in Atleti shirts, some of them have KIA as a sponsor (2005-2010), it’s unusual for a kid in South America to be a fan of Atletico, especially 10 years ago, but if this is true then we should expect some loyalty from him, and in my opinion, that will be his best quality .

Loaning Correa will be a big mistake, Griezmann, Raul, Saul, Oliver, Correa & Carrasco are not too many Cholo, last season in Vigo you lost all your attacking midfielders and playmakers, except Cani who couldn’t help you
Trust me, rotation is not that a big of deal, if Luis Enrique can do it then you can too .

I thought Atleti was pretty big in Argentina, though. Similar fanbases were usually named as reasons, I think. That’s how we were able to get Agüero, for instance, 9 years ago.

But it’s nice to sign a fan again. If we keep Correa, we won’t need Callejon-type players. Although the Carrasco transfer probably confirmed the not going through of that transfer 😀
