Atlético Madrid have officially presented Luciano Vietto to the media, at a press conference held at the Vicente Calderón on Thursday afternoon.
Vietto joins on a reported €22 million deal from Villarreal, and has signed a six-year contract with Los Rojiblancos.
The young Argentine looked delighted during the presentation, where he was handed an Atlético jersey, with no squad number for now.
The 21-year-old took part in pre-season training yesterday, and was teased by both Simeone and his fellow players as he struggled to keep up with the rest of the team.
“The guys have welcomed me in a wonderful way,” Vietto said at his presentation. “One of the goals I set myself is to quickly integrate with the rest of the team.”
Simeone already enjoys a good relationship with his new signing, having managed him back in Argentina.
“He [Simeone] knows me well. He gave me my debut in Argentina.”
“After I heard of Atlético’s interest, I was looking forward to being reunited with the coach,” the youngster said.
“I have many things to learn and I think that he is the best coach to learn from.”
Enrique Cerezo and Caminero attended the event, and had some kind words to say about Vietto.
“Luciano Vietto joins the team to increase the competitiveness up front, a position in which we have proven quality players and young talents,” said the club president Cerezo.
“Luciano, I’m sure your first two days with us have showed you what being a player of Atlético is all about.”
“I’m sure you will give your all in every practice session and every match, helping the team and winning the affection of the Vicente Calderón and our fans all over the world.”
Vietto then donned his new colours and made his way onto the field for the obligatory pictures and greeting of fans.

Cerezo also had a message for all of the fans expecting more signings.
“This is the first new face we present to you this season, but we will surely meet again soon to welcome new players.”
Music to our ears!
