Atlético Madrid returned to winning ways in the league on Saturday afternoon after a 2-0 win handed them all three points against Getafe.
An early Fernando Torres strike was added to just before half-time by Tiago, to give Atleti their first league victory in four games.
Here’s how we rated our players:
Oblak – 8
Nice league debut for Jan Oblak even though Getafe didn’t give him much work, he still commanded the box making crucial aerial interceptions and one brilliant save.
Juanfran – 6
Very motivated and he was constantly attacking Getafe’s area. However, his crosses were a bit poor today.
Godín – 7
Did not have much to do, but he presented a wonderful attacking presence along with his near immaculate defensive showing.
Giménez – 8
Great match by the young Uruguayan who showed brave and valiant defending in the match. At one point in the first half, he blocked a shot with his head. Absolute madness from the youngster, but boy do we love it.
Gámez – 7
Gámez keeps on getting more and more comfortable in the left back position. His inability to cross well with his left foot hinders his game a bit, but he is doing well defensively and offensively. In this match, his speed was too much for the Getafe players and he was blazing up and down the field.
Tiago – 7
The Portuguese veteran scored a nice goal after a nice layoff from Raúl Jiménez. He also had opportunities to score more goals, but his other shots went just wide. Tiago presented a good defensive display, but his final ball lacked just a bit.
Koke – 9 (Man of the Match)
Koke was everywhere on the pitch. His offensive and defensive contributions were insane. He definitely recovered his set piece taking skills and assisted the first goal of the match. Wonderful match by the Spaniard who was unlucky not to score
Gabi – 7
This match had hints of the Gabi of last season. The Spaniard was everywhere and did well to cover the wingbacks when they went up too far. His combinations with Arda and Juanfran were beautiful.
Arda – 7
It didn’t look like Arda played 120 minutes just a few days ago, The Turk was all over the place, constantly tackling and trying to feed the ball to forwards Torres and Jiménez.
Raúl Jiménez – 7
Great match from the Mexican and even though he didn’t score he did leave the match with an assist. He was very participative and eager to make a good impression. His presence on the field was definitely noted as he would pressure and rob balls and try to connect with Torres and the midfield. He was unlucky not to score, but now fans definitely know what good the Mexican can do for the team. The Calderón applauded him off of the field.
F Torres – 7
Scored a beautiful goal in the first minutes of the match and then started helping the team with defensive duties such as robbing the ball and pressuring. The now 31-year-old had more chances throughout the match, but just couldn’t score.
Griezmann – 6
Didn’t have much of an impact as he came on when the match was practically already decided. Best moment for the birthday boy was when the Calderón sang him happy birthday.
Mario Suárez – N/A
The Spaniard came on in the final minute of the match. His last few matches have been awarded with a call up to the Spanish national team.
Cani – N/A
The loanee spent more time listening to Mono Burgos give him instructions than actually on the pitch.
