Atlético B continued their miserable start to the new season with a goalless draw against Alcalá on Sunday.
After the 1-0 loss to Getafe last week, coach Antonio Rivas was looking for his first three points of the season.
There was some good news for Rivas ahead of the game. Midfielder Koke has been registered with the B-team and will play his games in the Cerro de Espino this season. With Camacho staying with the first team it’s unlikely Koke would have gotten many opportunities to play in the first team this season.
Paco Regalón returned to Atlético B’s defence. The centre back’s future was unclear after Quique Sánchez Flores didn’t seem to need him, but he will have been welcomed with open arms by Rivas. With Regalón in the line-up Atlético B seemed to have things under control in defence, unlike last week. The defence is the only line with some familiar faces, while the rest of the team has undergone many changes compared to last season.
Koke and Sergio Marcos combined well in midfield, but the absence of some talented forward players meant Atlético didn’t create many clear cut opportunities. Saúl, Sergio Marcos and Mínguez did have a go at goal, but without success.
This weekend winger Alberto Perea should return to give the side a huge boost. It’s unclear whether the injured Gallegos and new signings Vítor and Collado will be available against Leganés. The latter is recovering from a knee injury.
Line-up: Iago; Benítez, Regalón, Atienza, Cantero; Miramón, Koke, Sergio Marcos, Hermosa; Roberto and Saúl.
Subs: Abel (“62), Mínguez (“66), Fer (“87)
