Matchday LIVE: Barcelona vs. Atlético

The first leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final takes place tonight

The Camp Nou in the evening

Just 10 days after Atlético Madrid were soundly beaten by Barcelona at the Camp Nou, los Rojiblancos make the trip north again looking for a different outcome – this time in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey.

It doesn’t get much harder than Barcelona away, and despite knocking Real Madrid out in the previous round, Atleti will go into the game wary of Barcelona’s attacking threat – especially after last week.

I think we can do it!! Aupa Atleti

  • Forza Atleti!

  • atletico-palestine

    Torres injured?

  • I think he was just playing very poorly

  • Brad

Not used to actually getting playing time perhaps?

  • Taking off Griez for Raúl is quitting the counters.. :/
    And bad effort by Juanfran.

  • Adnan Khan

Oblak has been playing great this match, too bad no one was able to run faster than messi and clear the ball

  • I`m pretty sure he’ll be our first choice goalkeeper next season. The guy is really smart.

  • Chewie

It’s not that he’s smart, he just has superb reflexes.

  • Adnan Khan

I hope so. He deserve to get more chances in la liga this season too the way he is playing lately

  • Kris

Busquets. Neymar. Suarez. Xavi. A team full of divers. MOTM-Referee. We couldn’t score a goal in 90 minutes and nor could Barca.

  • Adnan Khan

Maybe a combinación of both? 😉

  • Chewie

Yet Juanfran was foolish enough to kick that diving bitch.
In all fairness, it didn’t seem like a game to me. More like a challenge for both teams. We didn’t play to win, and the counter-attacks were quite poor.
In the previous game we took risks, and it ended badly. This time we took no risks but Juanfran – again! – made a mistake that cost us the game.
    He’s starting to upset me.

  • Chewie

I still think he’s shaky but I surely see him being our number one in 1-2 years. He seems physically more gifted than Moya. But he still needs the experience.

  • Adnan Khan

Indeed he does. He has only been playing half a year in the top flight before coming to us. So some experience will ofc be good for him. Great talent 🙂

  • Before anybody says that we need 2 goals like those clowns on TV :
we only need 1 goal, 1-0 in the Calderon will not qualify us, but it will not knock us out either
with 1-0 we will go to extra time then to the shoot-out
I wish Simeone and his men realize that .. and I’m sure they do

It could have been a better result, but also it could have been worse
Oblak was great .. still a little nervous, but didn’t make a single mistake
Against strong teams when we are forced to play on the counter, Mandzukic is just not our guy, I wish Torres gets fully fit soon, and I wish Simeone gives more chances for Jimenez
No Godin vs Rayo or vs Barca, with Gimenez there is no worry, but emotionally, I don’t know if I can bear 2 games without him

1-0 is not that difficult for a comeback, even against Barca
    Si Se Puede
