Atlético Madrid have announced that perennial substitute Cristian Rodriguez has moved to Serie A for the rest of the season, joining Parma on loan.

Cebolla joined Atlético in 2012 from Porto, and won the Spanish Cup and League crown with Atleti in his time in Madrid.

However the Uruguayan has struggled for appearances even more this season, managing only 8 substitute appearances so far this year. This equates to only 96 minutes of football.

The 29-year-old had been trying to negotiate his exit out of Atleti during the January transfer window.

Cebolla has 18 months left on his Atleti contract.

  • Thank you Cebolla for everything .. you was a great example, and I wish other players learn from you

Someone like Mario Suarez should definitely learn from Cebolla, who is much better player than him, but Mario plays much more minutes, including this season, and despite his non-stop complaining about his lack of minutes, he actually played more than Tiago & Saul, 2 of his 3 competitors for his position !!
and not just against small teams, he played against Madrid (4 times), Villarreal, Sociedad, Juventus (twice) and he probably will start against Barca tonight
and while Mario keeps disappointing game after game, Cebolla kept killing himself in the few minutes he plays .. but Mario is the one who complains !
I say if he insists on this behavior, let’s sell him and see how much minutes can he get with Inter or wherever he goes

Thank you again our sweet onion, I wish you can save Parma from relegation, and I wish you can find a much bigger club next summer
