Ujfalusi a doubt for Saturday’s clash

The defender has been unable to train with the group because of tendinitis

Marca reports that Atlético defender Tomas Ujfalusi missed team training sessions yesterday and today, and is a doubt for Saturday’s clash with Athletic Bilbao.

The Czech Republican has been receiving treatment for tendinitis in his Achilles tendon and has been working apart from the group, hoping to recover in time to face the Basques.

Midfielder Fran Mérida on the other hand, is very unlikely to feature at the San Mamés as he continues to be treated for a muscle injury.

In other injury news, El Mundo Deportivo reports that Raúl García was banged up in this morning’s practice and was forced to retire from the session early. Despite the initial scare, the knock appears minor and Raúl should be ready to go against Athletic.

We could really regret not signing a new quality right back as Ujfalusi is quite old npw so he can not play every game and I don’t rate Perea at right back or Valera at all.

I guess (and hope) Ujfalusi is still good enough for one season.
I agree he’s getting older, but I guess that will really become a problem when he’s 35 or something. Depends on the player, though, not everyone is a Zanetti.
