Atlético, Juventus, Olympiacos and Malmo

Atleti drawn into Group A with 4 league winners

Atleti move into pole position in Group D

The draw for the 2014/15 Champions League group stages has taken place today in Monaco, with Atlético drawn into Group A alongside Juventus, Olympiacos and Malmo.

Last year’s runners-up will have to contend with some very tricky trips to Italy and Greece if they want to go have as much success this season as they did in the last.

Malmo FF finish up the group, and they will be a tough nut to crack, becoming the first Swedish team in 15 years to make it into the Champions League group stages.

Group A is the only group containing four champions, with the league winners of Spain, Italy, Greece and Sweden present.

Could have been better, could have been much much worse

I think this is the 2nd easiest group after Porto’s, very good draw for Oliver & co
I can’t wait to see Manqui play on Ronaldo again after he almost killed him

    Road to Berlin Begins !

  • Chewie

Good draw, we will almost 100% go through. Russian champions CSKA can’t believe they got almost the same draw as last year: Bayern – Man City – Roma – CSKA. Poor bastards.

lets partido a partido our way to Berlin!!!

Can’t complain about this one bit I don’t think, not a cake walk but certainly manageable.

    Angel Correa is back !
Today he had his first training session with Atleti after his recovery from the heart surgery
But he won’t play for us this season though, if not for the surgery or for missing the preseason then for that there is no free non-European spot
Miranda should have sworn on the Spanish constitution by now but things got little delayed, and Gimenez seems to be staying while Toby will be the CD who will be loaned

and for the same reason, Sosa is no longer an option

speaking about Gimenez, we just signed another Gimenez, a Uruguayan CD, at the same age and from the same club, Danubio, Emiliano Velazquez, and we have loaned him to Getafe
I really like what Caminero and Berta doing, we can’t sign super stars, but we can make them, or at least we can make half stars and make some profit from them

it’s not just a good draw, but I also think it’s a good schedule :
    Olympiacos (A)
    Juventus (H)
    Malmo (H)
    Malmo (A)
    Olympiacos (H)
    Juventus (A)

Indeed, we can decide everything in the first games and play Juventus with no tension.

  • The schedule is really good and facing Juventus away only on the last match is perfect for both. Hope we setup our forward line soon.

  • Raúl Garcia has been called up for Spain! That’s his effort paying off. And no Gabi yet.:/
