With both the loan of Thibaut Courtois and the 1-year deal of Daniel Aranzubia set to expire, Atlético needs to sign two goalkeepers for next season.
Half of that task is now complete, after the club announced the transfer of Miguel Ángel Moyá on Wednesday. Pending a medical, the ‘keeper will sign for 3 years with the Rojiblancos.
The 30-year old shot stopper comes over from Getafe. A fee was not disclosed, but we reportedly paid €3m for his services. He is Atleti’s second signing this summer after Ángel Correa’s transfer was announced last week.
Moyá started his career at Mallorca and earned a move to Valencia in 2009. However, he failed to impress for Los Che and was shipped off to Getafe two years later. In the suburb of Madrid he’s played consistently again, but there are doubts among Atleti fans whether the goalie is good enough to start for the club.
Do you think Moyá will be our first goalkeeper, or is he simply an (expensive) backup?
