On the last day of the transfer window, Atlético managed to make two more signings for the B-team. The arrival of Vitor Huvos and José Collado will help to add depth to the team up front, an area that was in dire need of strengthening.
Last season’s strikers have all gone elsewhere. Jorge Molino moved on to Real Murcia on a permanent deal this summer. Borja González and Ibrahima Baldé were promoted to the first team during the last season, and while Borja has been sidelined for six months, Ibrahima joined Numancia on loan where he will accompany winger Cédric, who was sold to the second division side. All four debuted for the first team last season, but after the pre-season were left stuck between Atlético’s first and second selections.
The departures left coach Antonio Rivas in desperate need of some new attackers. Sébastian Gallegos is an amazing talent from Uruguay but didn’t play a big role last season, while the promoted Saúl Ñíguez is only 15 years old.
Thankfully, José Antonio Collado Herrera brings plenty of experience to the squad. The forward, only 20, has played for Villarreal and Nàstic, before penning a four year deal with Braga in Portugal just two months ago. Now the Canarian has joined us on loan for this season.
Vítor Gialorenco Huvos is a Brazilian forward who comes over from Cluj in Romania. The 22-year old, who also holds an Italian passport, has joined on a permanent transfer.
In Atlético B’s first league match last Sunday, with Gallegos absent due to injury, only winger Perea ever seemed to threaten the Getafe goalkeeper. The 19-year old has a very strong chance of being promoted to the first team during the season.
Antonio Rivas’ will surely be at ease now, knowing that he can count on two more options up front.
